We’ve seen a need in the market place for the product developers to help get their custom plastic parts to market quickly. Here is a brief look at how Xcentric Mold helps customers get through the prototype stage and into production.
What does Xcentric do?
We offer quick-turn injection molding from 1-15 days and CNC machining from 1-10 days.
What benefit do you provide your customer?
We help streamline the quoting process where we can educate the customer on materials, we offer custom colors, custom finishes and engraving. With Xcentric and because of our capabilities we don’t put any limitations with how many parts you can get off our tools, as long as we build it, we run it, we give it Lifetime Mold Guarantee.
We don’t want you to change your design to make it easy for us to make your part. Our system will allow us to make your part the way you need to.
Do you have any examples?
This is an overmolded part. A customer needed rubber put onto hard plastic and we were able to turn this quote around within a day and, from a purchase order, able to get the parts in the customers hands in 15 days. We are doing insert molding and overmolding.
What is overmolding?
Overmolding is when you take a hard plastic material and you’re going to put a softer type of plastic on it. What’s overmolded on this is the rubber and these little lenses. So this is actually a three-piece assembly all molded in.
What is insert molding?
Insert molding is when you’re taking inserts and loading them into the tool and putting the plastic around it. And we are molding in the inserts during the molding process.
It doesn’t matter if it’s off-the-shelf insert or custom insert, we can insert mold anything.
What tolerances can you achieve?
A typical tolerance is +/- 0.005″. With our process we can achieve +/- 0.001″
Do you have any certifications?
We are ISO 9001:2008 certified and will be transitioning into the 9001:2015. We are also UL and ITAR registered.
What are some of the things you can do with your CNC machining service?
Let me show you some metal CNC machining. We are doing external threads so we can do thread grinding. We can also do aluminum with tapped holes so if you have threads in your holes we can do that. Any type of feature that has to come in from the side, that’s where our 5-axis machining capabilities come in at. We can also do custom finishes, chrome plating, laser etching.
What size parts can you produce?
On the CNC side, it’s up to 36 inches. On the injection molding side it’s up to 32oz. shot size (typically 24″ x 24″ x 5″ deep part)
How long have you been in business?
We’ve been in business for 20 years but our quick-turn development process that we’ve been really streamlined on has been our niche for the last 10 years.
